Webb Summary

Webb is a small town located in the southeastern corner of Alabama, in Henry County. It is situated on the banks of the Choctawhatchee River, and is surrounded by the towns of Abbeville, Headland, and Newville. The town has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is known for its rural charm and friendly atmosphere.

History

Webb was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from Georgia. The town was named after the Webb family, who were among the first settlers. The town was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were cotton, corn, and peanuts. In the late 1800s, the town began to grow and develop, and by the early 1900s, it had become a thriving community.
In the early 1900s, the town was home to several businesses, including a sawmill, a gristmill, a cotton gin, and a general store. The town also had a post office, a bank, and a hotel. In the 1920s, the town was connected to the rest of the state by a railroad line, which allowed for the transportation of goods and people.
In the 1950s, the town began to decline, as many of the businesses closed and the population decreased. However, in the late 1990s, the town began to experience a resurgence, as new businesses opened and the population began to grow again.
