Rock Mills is a small unincorporated community located in Randolph County, Alabama. It is situated on the banks of the Tallapoosa River, approximately 10 miles south of Wedowee. The population of Rock Mills was estimated to be around 500 in 2020.

History

Rock Mills was first settled in the early 1800s by settlers from Georgia and South Carolina. The town was named after a nearby grist mill that was built in 1820. The mill was powered by the Tallapoosa River and was used to grind corn and wheat. The mill was destroyed by a flood in 1845, but the town continued to grow and prosper.
