Hokes Bluff is a small town with a limited economy. The town is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a pharmacy, and a few restaurants. The town also has a few manufacturing plants, including a paper mill and a furniture factory.

As of the 2010 census, there were 2,717 people, 1,093 households, and 790 families residing in the town. The population density was 645.2 people per square mile (249.3/km2). There were 1,193 housing units at an average density of 285.3 per square mile (110.3/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 95.2% White, 0.9% Black or African American, 0.7% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.2% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.2% of the population.
