Geraldine Summary

Geraldine, Alabama is a small town located in the northeastern corner of the state, in DeKalb County. It is situated at the intersection of U.S. Highway 11 and Alabama Highway 227, and is approximately 30 miles from the Tennessee border. The town was founded in 1891 and was named after the daughter of the first postmaster, John W. Smith.

Geography

Geraldine is located in the Appalachian foothills of the Cumberland Plateau. The town is situated in a valley surrounded by hills and mountains, with the highest peak in the area being Lookout Mountain. The town is located in a humid subtropical climate zone, with hot summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is around 64 degrees Fahrenheit, with an average annual precipitation of around 50 inches.

Economy

Geraldine’s economy is largely based on agriculture and forestry. The town is home to several farms, as well as a sawmill and a lumber mill. The town also has a few small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.
