East Brewton Summary

Brewton is a city located in Escambia County, Alabama, United States. It is situated in the southeastern corner of the state, approximately 30 miles north of the Florida border. The city is the county seat of Escambia County and is part of the Dothan, Alabama metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the population of Brewton was 5,408.

History

Brewton was founded in 1819 by General Daniel McNeil, who named the city after his friend, Colonel Edward Brewton. The city was incorporated in 1885 and was the county seat of Escambia County.
