Kistler Summary
Kistler is an unincorporated community located in Logan County, West Virginia. It is situated along the Guyandotte River, and is part of the Logan Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population of Kistler was estimated to be around 1,000 in 2020.
History
Kistler was founded in the late 19th century by German immigrants who settled in the area. The town was named after the Kistler family, who were among the first settlers. The town was originally known as Kistler Station, as it was a stop on the Norfolk and Western Railway.
In the early 20th century, Kistler was a thriving coal mining town. The town was home to several coal mines, including the Kistler Coal Company, which operated from the early 1900s until the late 1940s. The town also had a post office, a general store, and a school.
