Wheat Ridge is located at 39°45'25" North, 105°05'45" West (39.756944, -105.095833). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.2 square miles (16.1 km2), all of it land.
The city is located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and is bordered by the cities of Arvada to the north, Lakewood to the east, and Golden to the south. The city is located in the Denver-Aurora-Boulder Combined Statistical Area.

Economy

Wheat Ridge is home to a variety of businesses, including retail stores, restaurants, and professional services. The city is also home to several large employers, including the St. Anthony Hospital, the Denver Federal Center, and the Denver Water Board.
The city is also home to several industrial parks, including the Wheat Ridge Business Park, the Wheat Ridge Industrial Park, and the Wheat Ridge Technology Park. These parks are home to a variety of businesses, including manufacturing, distribution, and research and development.

The racial makeup of the city was 81.2% White, 4.3% African American, 0.7% Native American, 3.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 7.2% from other races, and 3.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 16.7% of the population.
There were 11,845 households, out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.7% were non-families. 27.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.7% who were 65 years of age or older.
