Meridian, Colorado is a small town located in Adams County, Colorado, United States. The town is situated on the eastern edge of the Denver metropolitan area, and is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population of Meridian was 1,845 at the 2010 census.
Geography
Meridian is located at 39°50'17" North, 104°50'17" West (39.838, -104.838). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all of it land.
History
Meridian was founded in 1887 by a group of settlers from the Midwest. The town was named after the nearby Meridian Reservoir, which was named after the meridian line that runs through the area. The town was originally a farming community, but in the early 1900s, it began to grow as a result of the nearby oil and gas industry.
In the 1950s, the town began to experience a population boom as people moved to the area to take advantage of the booming oil and gas industry. The population of Meridian peaked in the 1970s, but has since declined due to the decline of the oil and gas industry.

The town is home to several oil and gas companies, including Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Noble Energy, and Encana Corporation. As of the 2010 census, there were 1,845 people, 690 households, and 486 families residing in the town. The population density was 2,637.3 people per square mile (1,017.2/km2). There were 745 housing units at an average density of 1,053.3 per square mile (406.2/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 81.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.7% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 14.2% from other races, and 2.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 25.2% of the population.
There were 690 households, out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.3% were non-families. 25.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.20.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 27.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 11.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
