Meeker Summary

Meeker, Colorado is a small town located in the northwest corner of the state, in Rio Blanco County. It is situated in the White River Valley, at the confluence of the White River and the Little Snake River. The town was founded in 1885 and named after Nathan Meeker, a U.S. Indian Agent who was killed in the Ute Indian War of 1879. Meeker is the county seat of Rio Blanco County and is the largest town in the county.

The White River Valley is a high-altitude desert, with an average elevation of 6,000 feet.
