Larkspur Summary

Larkspur is a small town located in Douglas County, Colorado, United States. It is situated in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, approximately 25 miles south of Denver. The area that is now Larkspur was first settled in the late 1800s by homesteaders. The town was originally known as Perry Park, named after the Perry family who were among the first settlers. In 1887, the town was renamed Larkspur after the wild larkspur flowers that grew in the area.
In the early 1900s, the town began to grow and develop. The Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad built a line through the town, connecting it to Denver and other nearby towns. This allowed for the development of a small commercial district, which included a post office, a general store, and a few other businesses.
In the 1950s, the town began to experience a population boom as people moved to the area from other parts of the country. This growth continued into the 1960s and 1970s, and the town was incorporated in 1975.
