Englewood, Colorado is a city located in Arapahoe County, Colorado, United States. It is a suburb of Denver and is located approximately 10 miles south of downtown Denver. As of the 2010 census, the population of Englewood was 30,255.
Geography
Englewood is located at 39°38'N 105°2'W (39.633, -105.033). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.2 square miles (16.1 km2), all of it land.
History
Englewood was founded in 1858 by John W. Smith, a settler from Kansas. Smith named the area after his hometown of Englewood, Ohio. The city was incorporated in 1903.
The city experienced rapid growth in the early 20th century, and by the 1950s it had become a major suburb of Denver. In the 1970s, the city experienced a period of decline as many of its residents moved to the suburbs. However, in the 1980s and 1990s, the city experienced a resurgence as it became a popular destination for young professionals and families.

Englewood is home to a variety of businesses, including retail stores, restaurants, and professional services. The city is also home to several corporate headquarters, including the headquarters of Dish Network, the world’s largest direct-broadcast satellite service provider.
Demographics
As of the 2010 census, there were 30,255 people, 11,945 households, and 7,717 families residing in the city. The population density was 4,867.3 people per square mile (1,878.2/km2). There were 12,890 housing units at an average density of 2,072.2 per square mile (799.7/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 79.2% White, 8.2% African American, 0.6% Native American, 3.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 5.3% from other races, and 3.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 14.3% of the population.
There were 11,945 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.2% were married couples living together, 12.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.7% were non-families. 29.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 3.14.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 33.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $50,919, and the median income for a family was $60,919. Males had a median income of $41,919 versus $32,919 for females.
