Harvey is a city located in Wells County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 1,743 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wells County.
History
Harvey was founded in 1883 by the Northern Pacific Railroad. The city was named after railroad official, William H. Harvey. The city was incorporated in 1884.

Economy
Harvey is a small agricultural community. The main industries are farming, ranching, and oil production. The city is also home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a lumber yard, and a few restaurants.
Demographics
As of the census of 2010, there were 1,743 people, 745 households, and 441 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,711.8 inhabitants per square mile (661.2/km2). There were 845 housing units at an average density of 830.4 per square mile (320.7/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.2% White, 0.2% African American, 0.7% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.4% from other races, and 1.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.
There were 745 households of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% were married couples living together, 9.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 42.2% were non-families. 37.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.25 and the average family size was 2.97.
The median age in the city was 41.3 years. 24.2% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.7% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 22.3% were from 25 to 44; 25.3% were from 45 to 64; and 21.5% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 48.2% male and 51.8% female.
