Gwinner Summary

Gwinner is a city located in the southeastern corner of North Dakota, in the United States. It is the county seat of Richland County and is part of the Wahpeton, ND-MN Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population of Gwinner was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

History

Gwinner was founded in 1883 by the Northern Pacific Railroad. The city was named after a railroad official, John Gwinner. The first post office was established in 1883. The city was incorporated in 1887.

Geography

Gwinner is located at 46°25'17" North, 96°51'45" West (46.4214, -96.8625). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2), all of it land.
