Glenfield Summary
Glenfield is a small city located in the southeastern corner of North Dakota, in the United States. It is the county seat of LaMoure County and is situated on the banks of the James River. The city has a population of approximately 500 people and is part of the Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area.
History
Glenfield was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from Wisconsin. The city was named after the nearby Glenfield Township, which was named after the Glenfield family who had settled in the area in the late 1800s. The city was incorporated in 1887 and quickly grew to become a thriving agricultural and commercial center.
In the early 1900s, Glenfield was a major hub for the railroad industry. The city was home to several grain elevators, a flour mill, and a creamery. The railroad also brought in new businesses and industries, such as a brickyard, a lumberyard, and a furniture factory.
