Dixon Summary

Dixon, Montana is a small town located in the northwest corner of the state, near the Idaho border. It is situated in the Flathead Valley, a region of the Rocky Mountains known for its stunning scenery and outdoor recreation opportunities. The town has a population of just over 500 people, and is the county seat of Lake County.

History

The area around Dixon was first settled in the late 1800s by homesteaders and ranchers. The town was officially founded in 1891, and was named after the first postmaster, William Dixon. The town quickly grew, and by the early 1900s, it had become a bustling center of commerce and industry. The town was home to several sawmills, a flour mill, a creamery, and a number of other businesses.
