Saronville Summary

Saronville is a village in Saunders County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 545 at the 2010 census. Saronville is located in the southeastern corner of Saunders County, along the Platte River. It is part of the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Saronville was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from Saronville, Wisconsin. The village was named after the Wisconsin town. The first post office was established in 1872.

Economy

The economy of Saronville is largely based on agriculture. The village is home to several grain elevators, as well as a feed mill and a fertilizer plant.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 545 people, 206 households, and 149 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,845.2 people per square mile (717.2/km2). There were 218 housing units at an average density of 741.2 per square mile (286.7/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.18% White, 0.18% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.37% from other races, and 0.73% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.73% of the population.
There were 206 households, out of which 33.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.2% were married couples living together, 6.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.6% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.17.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.3 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $41,250, and the median income for a family was $45,000. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the village was $17,845.
