Litchfield Summary

Litchfield is a small town located in the state of Nebraska, in the United States. It is situated in the southeastern corner of the state, in the county of Lancaster. The town has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is located about 25 miles south of Lincoln, the state capital.

History

Litchfield was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Lincoln. The town was named after the nearby Litchfield Creek, which was named after a local settler, John Litchfield. The town was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were corn, wheat, and oats. In the late 19th century, the town began to grow and develop, and by the early 20th century, it had become a thriving community.
In the early 1900s, the town was home to several businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a hotel, and a bank. The town also had a school, a post office, and a railroad station.
