Hickman Summary

Hickman, Nebraska is a small city located in Lancaster County, Nebraska. It is situated on the banks of the Platte River, approximately 20 miles south of Lincoln. The city has a population of 1,845 people, according to the 2010 census.

History

Hickman was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The city was named after William Hickman, a prominent early settler. The city was incorporated in 1887.
In the late 19th century, Hickman was a thriving agricultural community. The city was home to several grain elevators, a flour mill, and a creamery. The city also had a large number of businesses, including a hotel, a bank, a newspaper, and a variety of stores.
