Deshler Summary

Deshler is a small village located in Thayer County, Nebraska. It is situated in the southeastern corner of the state, near the Missouri River. The population of Deshler was 1,093 in the 2010 census.

History

Deshler was founded in 1871 by German immigrants who had come to the area to farm. The town was named after a local settler, John Deshler. The first post office was established in 1872.
In the late 19th century, Deshler was a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several businesses, including a bank, a hotel, a blacksmith shop, and a general store.
In the early 20th century, Deshler experienced a period of growth. The town was incorporated in 1910 and a new school was built in 1911. The town also had a movie theater, a library, and a hospital.

Deshler is located in Thayer County, Nebraska. It is situated in the southeastern corner of the state, near the Missouri River. The town is located at an elevation of 1,717 feet (524 m).
