Grantsburg is a village located in Burnett County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,417 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Burnett County.

History

Grantsburg was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from Sweden. The village was named after William Grant, a prominent settler who had purchased the land from the government. The village was incorporated in 1876.
In the late 19th century, Grantsburg was a major lumbering center. The village was home to several sawmills, a grist mill, and a shingle mill. The village also had a large brickyard, which produced bricks for many of the buildings in the area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,417 people, 590 households, and 393 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,179.2 people per square mile (455.7/km2). There were 637 housing units at an average density of 531.2 per square mile (205.2/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.90% White, 0.14% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.14% from other races, and 1.53% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.99% of the population.
There were 590 households, out of which 28.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.1% were married couples living together, 8.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.6% were non-families. 29.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.94.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 20.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $35,000, and the median income for a family was $41,250. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $20,000 for females. The per capita income for the village was $17,845. About 6.2% of families and 8.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.2% of those under age 18 and 8.3% of those age 65 or over.
