Curtiss is a village located in Clark County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wausau, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
Curtiss was founded in 1883 by William Curtiss, a lumberman from Maine. He purchased a large tract of land in the area and began to develop it into a village. The village was incorporated in 1891.
The village was named after William Curtiss, who was the first postmaster of the village. The village was originally known as Curtissville, but the name was changed to Curtiss in 1895.

Economy
The economy of Curtiss is largely based on agriculture and tourism. The village is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a restaurant, and a gas station.
The village is also home to a number of small farms, which produce a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans, and hay.

As of the census of 2000, there were 545 people, 212 households, and 149 families residing in the village. The population density was 790.3 people per square mile (305.7/km2). There were 224 housing units at an average density of 324.2 per square mile (125.2/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.18% White, 0.18% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.37% from other races, and 0.73% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.73% of the population.
There were 212 households, out of which 33.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.5% were married couples living together, 7.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.2% were non-families. 25.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 27.2% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.3 males.
