Neosho Summary

Neosho, Wisconsin is a small village located in Dodge County, Wisconsin. It is situated on the banks of the Crawfish River, about 25 miles east of Madison. The village has a population of about 1,000 people and is part of the Beaver Dam Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Neosho was first settled in 1845 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after the Neosho River in New York. The settlers built a sawmill and a gristmill on the Crawfish River, which provided the village with its first industry. The village was incorporated in 1856.
In the late 19th century, Neosho was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several cheese factories, a creamery, a canning factory, and a flour mill. The village also had a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a hotel.

Geography

Neosho is located in southeastern Wisconsin, about 25 miles east of Madison. The village is situated on the banks of the Crawfish River, which flows through the village. The village is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The nearest major city is Milwaukee, which is about 50 miles to the east.
