Milton Summary

Milton, Wisconsin is a small city located in Rock County, Wisconsin, United States. It is situated on the banks of the Sugar River, about 20 miles south of Madison. The city has a population of approximately 7,000 people and is part of the Janesville-Beloit Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Milton was first settled in 1836 by a group of settlers from New York. The town was named after the poet John Milton, and the first post office was established in 1837. The city was incorporated in 1848 and was the first city in Rock County to be incorporated.
