Dale Summary

Dale is a small village located in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. It is situated on the western edge of the county, just south of the city of Fond du Lac. The village has a population of just over 1,000 people, and is part of the Fond du Lac Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

The area that is now Dale was first settled in the early 1840s by German immigrants. The village was originally known as “Dale’s Corners”, named after the first settler, John Dale. The village was officially incorporated in 1891.
In the early 1900s, Dale was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several dairy farms, as well as a cheese factory. The village also had a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a post office.
In the 1950s, Dale began to experience a population decline as many of its residents moved away to larger cities. The village was also affected by the decline of the dairy industry in the area.

Dale is located in the western part of Fond du Lac County, just south of the city of Fond du Lac. The village is situated on the banks of the Fond du Lac River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland.
The village covers an area of 1.2 square miles, and has a population density of 845 people per square mile. The village is located at an elevation of 845 feet above sea level.
