Clyman Summary

Clyman is a village located in Dodge County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. The village is located within the Town of Clyman.

History

The area that is now Clyman was first settled in 1844 by a group of German immigrants. The village was originally known as "Clymanville" and was incorporated in 1887. The name was changed to "Clyman" in 1895.
The village was originally a farming community, but in the early 20th century, it became a center for the production of cheese and butter. The village also had a number of small businesses, including a sawmill, a grist mill, a blacksmith shop, and a general store.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,093 people, 393 households, and 294 families residing in the village. The population density was 902.2 people per square mile (348.7/km2).
