Geography
Belgium is located at 43°27′N 87°54′W (43.45, -87.90). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.
History
Belgium was founded in 1848 by Belgian immigrants who had come to the area to work in the local brickyards. The village was named after the country of Belgium, and the local brickyards were the source of the bricks used to build many of the buildings in the village.
The village was incorporated in 1891. In the early 20th century, the village was home to a number of small businesses, including a cheese factory, a creamery, a brewery, a canning factory, and a brickyard.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,902 people, 745 households, and 517 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,569.2 people per square mile (606.3/km2). There were 790 housing units at an average density of 654.2 per square mile (252.7/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.2% White, 0.3% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.3% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.7% of the population.
There were 745 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 9.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 27.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.13.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 95.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $50,000, and the median income for a family was $60,000. Males had a median income of $41,000 versus $30,000 for females. The per capita income for the village was $24,000.
