Belgium Summary

Belgium is a village located in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,902 at the 2010 census. The village is located within the Town of Belgium.

Geography

Belgium is located at 43°27′N 87°54′W (43.45, -87.90). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.

History

Belgium was founded in 1848 by Belgian immigrants who had come to the area to work in the local brickyards. The village was named after the country of Belgium, and the local brickyards were the source of the bricks used to build many of the buildings in the village.
