Adell Summary

Adell is a village located in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Sheboygan, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Adell was founded in 1848 by German immigrants. The village was named after Adele, the daughter of one of the original settlers. The village was incorporated in 1891.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2), all of it land.

Economy

Adell is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a restaurant, and a bank. The village also has a post office and a library.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,093 people, 393 households, and 298 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,213.2 people per square mile (468.7/km2). There were 402 housing units at an average density of 447.2 per square mile (172.6/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.90% White, 0.09% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.09% from other races, and 0.73% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.55% of the population.
There were 393 households, out of which 37.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.2% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.2% were non-families. 21.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.26.
