Whitfield Cdp is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Manatee County, Florida. It is located in the southeastern part of the county, just north of Bradenton. The population of Whitfield Cdp was 4,845 at the 2010 census.
History
The area that is now Whitfield Cdp was first settled in the late 19th century by settlers from the North. The area was originally known as Whitfield Station, named after the railroad station that was built in the area in 1887. The station was part of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad, which ran from Tampa to Sarasota. The station was used to transport goods and passengers to and from the area.
In the early 20th century, the area began to develop as a residential community. The first homes were built in the area in the 1920s. The area was officially incorporated as the Town of Whitfield in 1925. The town was named after the railroad station and was the first incorporated town in Manatee County.
In the 1950s, the area began to experience rapid growth as more people moved to the area. The population of the town grew from 1,000 in 1950 to over 4,000 by 1960. In the 1970s, the town was annexed by the City of Bradenton and became part of the larger city.

Whitfield Cdp is located at 27.5°N 82.5°W. It is located in the southeastern part of Manatee County, just north of Bradenton. The CDP has a total area of 4.2 square miles, all of which is land.
