Reddick is a small unincorporated community located in Marion County, Florida. It is situated approximately 20 miles northwest of Ocala, the county seat. The population of Reddick was estimated to be 1,093 in 2019.

History

Reddick was founded in 1883 by William Reddick, a former Confederate soldier. He named the town after himself and it was incorporated in 1887. The town was originally a farming community, but it soon became a hub for the citrus industry. In the early 1900s, Reddick was home to several citrus packing houses and a canning factory.
The town was also home to a number of businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a livery stable, and a hotel. In the 1920s, the town was home to a movie theater and a bowling alley.

Geography

Reddick is located in north-central Florida, approximately 20 miles northwest of Ocala. It is situated in the rolling hills of the Ocala National Forest. The town is bordered by the Orange Lake to the east and the Cross Florida Greenway to the west.
The climate in Reddick is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is 72°F (22°C). The average annual precipitation is 51 inches (130 cm).
