Page Park Summary

Parker Park is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Bay County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Panama City–Lynn Haven–Panama City Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,845 at the 2010 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.2 square miles (10.8 km2), of which 4.1 square miles (10.6 km2) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km2) (2.44%) is water.

History

Parker Park was first settled in the late 1800s by a group of settlers from Georgia. The area was originally known as "Parker's Park" after the first settler, William Parker. The area was mostly used for farming and timber harvesting until the early 1900s when the Panama City-Lynn Haven area began to develop.
In the 1950s, Parker Park began to experience rapid growth as the Panama City-Lynn Haven area became a popular tourist destination. The area was incorporated as a town in 1959 and the population grew to over 3,000 by the 1970s.

Economy

The economy of Parker Park is largely based on tourism and services. The area is home to several hotels, restaurants, and other businesses catering to tourists. The area is also home to several manufacturing and industrial businesses.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,845 people, 1,093 households, and 790 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 690.3 people per square mile (266.7/km2). There were 1,213 housing units at an average density of 294.2/sq mi (113.6/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 92.45% White, 4.45% African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.53% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.53% from other races, and 1.97% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.45% of the population.
