Haynesville is a small town located in the northern part of Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. It is situated on the banks of the Red River, approximately 20 miles south of the Arkansas border. The town was founded in 1839 and named after the first settler, William Haynes. The population of Haynesville was 2,717 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Haynesville is located at 32°45'25" North, 93°14'45" West (32.7569, -93.2458). It is situated on the banks of the Red River, approximately 20 miles south of the Arkansas border. The town is located in the northern part of Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. The terrain is mostly flat with some rolling hills. The climate is humid subtropical with hot summers and mild winters.

Economy

The economy of Haynesville is largely based on agriculture and timber. The town is home to several large timber companies, including Weyerhaeuser, International Paper, and Georgia-Pacific. The town also has a number of small businesses, including restaurants, retail stores, and service providers.
The town is also home to a number of oil and gas companies, including Chevron, ExxonMobil, and Shell. The oil and gas industry has been a major contributor to the local economy since the early 1900s.
