Waldron Summary

Waldron is a city located in Scott County, Arkansas, United States. It is the county seat of Scott County and is located in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains. The population was 4,048 at the 2010 census.

History

Waldron was founded in 1845 by William Waldron, a settler from Tennessee. The town was originally known as "Waldron's Store" and was located on the banks of the Poteau River. The town was incorporated in 1876 and was named after William Waldron.
In the late 19th century, Waldron was a major center for the timber industry. The town was also home to a number of sawmills and gristmills.

Geography

Waldron is located at 35°14'25" North, 94°10'17" West (35.240278, -94.171389). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.2 square miles (10.8 km2), all land.

Economy

Waldron is the county seat of Scott County and is home to a number of businesses and industries. The town is home to a number of retail stores, restaurants, and other businesses. The town is also home to a number of manufacturing companies, including a furniture factory, a plastics factory, and a paper mill.
