History
Shannon Hills was founded in the late 1800s by a man named William Shannon. He purchased the land from the local Native American tribes and began to develop the area. The city was officially incorporated in 1965.
The city was named after William Shannon, who was a prominent local businessman and politician. He served as a state senator from 1876 to 1878 and was a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives from 1878 to 1880.

Shannon Hills is a small city with a population of just over 1,800 people. The city is primarily residential, with most of the population employed in the nearby cities of Little Rock and Benton.

There were 717 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.2% were non-families. 24.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.04.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
