Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the Caribbean Sea. It is composed of 78 municipalities, or counties, which are the primary political divisions of the island. Each county is governed by a mayor and a municipal legislature. The counties are further divided into barrios, or neighborhoods.
