Willisville Summary

Willisville is a small village located in the southwestern corner of Illinois, in the county of Williamson. It is situated on the banks of the Big Muddy River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The village has a population of just over 500 people, and is home to a variety of businesses, including a grocery store, a gas station, a post office, and a few restaurants.

History

Willisville was founded in 1818 by William Willis, a settler from Kentucky. He purchased the land from the federal government and established a small trading post. The village grew slowly over the years, and by the mid-1800s, it had become a thriving community. The village was incorporated in 1872, and the first mayor was elected in 1873.
In the early 1900s, the village experienced a period of growth and prosperity. The population increased, and new businesses opened. The village also became a popular destination for tourists, who came to enjoy the scenic beauty of the area.
In the 1950s, the village began to decline. Many of the businesses closed, and the population decreased. In the late 1970s, the village was revitalized, and new businesses opened. Today, Willisville is a small but vibrant community.

Geography

Willisville is located in the southwestern corner of Illinois, in the county of Williamson. It is situated on the banks of the Big Muddy River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The village is located about 25 miles from the city of Marion, and about 50 miles from the city of St. Louis.
The village has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land. The terrain is mostly flat, with some rolling hills. The climate is humid continental, with hot summers and cold winters.
