South Pekin is a small village located in Tazewell County, Illinois. It is situated on the banks of the Illinois River, approximately 10 miles south of the city of Pekin. The village was founded in 1836 by a group of settlers from Pekin, and was originally known as “Pekin South”. The name was changed to South Pekin in 1854.
