Rosiclare Summary

Rosiclare, Illinois is a small city located in Hardin County, Illinois. It is situated on the banks of the Ohio River, and is part of the Shawnee National Forest. The city has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is the county seat of Hardin County.

History

Rosiclare was founded in 1817 by William and Mary Ross, who named the town after their daughter, Rosiclare. The town was originally a trading post, and was the first settlement in Hardin County. In 1818, the town was officially incorporated, and the first post office was established.
In the early 19th century, Rosiclare was a major port on the Ohio River, and was a major hub for the steamboat industry. The town was also a major center for the coal mining industry, and was home to several coal mines.

In the early 20th century, Rosiclare was a major center for the oil and gas industry, and was home to several oil refineries. The town was also home to several manufacturing plants, and was a major center for the production of furniture and other goods.
