Percy Summary

Percy, Illinois is a small village located in Randolph County, Illinois. It is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River, about 25 miles south of St. Louis, Missouri. The village has a population of 1,092 people, according to the 2010 census.

History

Percy was founded in 1819 by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The village was named after the first settler, William Percy. The village was incorporated in 1872.
In the late 19th century, Percy was a thriving river port. It was a major stop for steamboats traveling up and down the Mississippi River. The village was also home to a number of businesses, including a sawmill, a grist mill, a blacksmith shop, and a general store.

Geography

Percy is located in Randolph County, Illinois. It is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River, about 25 miles south of St. Louis, Missouri. The village has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land.
