Minier Summary

Minier is a village located in Tazewell County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,717 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Peoria, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Minier was founded in 1854 by William Minier, a farmer from Ohio. He purchased the land from the government and began to develop the area. The village was incorporated in 1872.
The village was named after William Minier, who was the first settler in the area. The village was originally known as Minier's Grove, but the name was changed to Minier in 1872.

Economy

The economy of Minier is largely based on agriculture. The village is home to several farms, including the Minier Family Farm, which has been in operation since 1854.
The village also has several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant.

Demographics

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,717 people, 690 households, and 463 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,427.5 people per square mile (550.3/km2). There were 745 housing units at an average density of 621.7 per square mile (239.7/km2).
