Hurst is a small village located in the state of Illinois, in the United States. It is situated in the northeastern part of the state, in the county of Will. The village is located about 30 miles southwest of Chicago, and is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The population of Hurst was estimated to be 1,845 in the year 2000.

Geography

Hurst is located at 41°25'N, 87°51'W (41.4167, -87.85). The village has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of which is land. The village is situated on the banks of the Des Plaines River, and is surrounded by the towns of Joliet, Lockport, and Romeoville.

Climate

Hurst has a humid continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters. The average temperature in the summer is around 75°F, and the average temperature in the winter is around 25°F. The average annual precipitation is around 37 inches.

Demographics

As of the 2000 census, there were 1,845 people, 690 households, and 486 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,541.2 people per square mile. There were 717 housing units at an average density of 597.2 per square mile.
