Glenwood, Illinois is a village located in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is a suburb of Chicago, located approximately 25 miles south of the city. The population of Glenwood was 5,811 at the 2010 census.

History

Glenwood was first settled in 1835 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally known as "Glenwood Station" due to its location on the Chicago and Alton Railroad. The village was officially incorporated in 1892.

Geography

Glenwood is located at 41°35'17" North, 87°37'17" West (41.5879, -87.6214). According to the 2010 census, the village has a total area of 2.2 square miles, all land.

Economy

Glenwood is home to several businesses, including a number of restaurants, retail stores, and professional services. The village is also home to a number of industrial and manufacturing companies, including a steel mill and a paper mill.
