Cleveland is a small village located in Iroquois County, Illinois, United States. The village is situated in the eastern part of the county, approximately 10 miles (16 km) south of Watseka and 25 miles (40 km) north of Kankakee. The population of Cleveland was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

History

Cleveland was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Ohio, led by William Cleveland. The village was named after William Cleveland, who was a prominent local businessman and politician. The village was incorporated in 1858.
In the late 19th century, Cleveland was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several grain elevators, a flour mill, a creamery, and a cheese factory. The village also had a railroad station, which connected it to the rest of the state.

Cleveland is located at 40°59′N 87°50′W (40.983, -87.834). According to the 2010 census, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all land.
The village is located in the Iroquois River Valley, which is part of the Kankakee River watershed. The village is surrounded by farmland and is located near several small lakes.

There were 441 households, out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 28.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.04.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
