Carlock Summary

Carlock, Illinois is a small village located in McLean County, Illinois. It is situated in the heart of the Midwest, just a few miles south of Bloomington-Normal. The village has a population of just over 500 people, and is a part of the Bloomington-Normal Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Carlock was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The village was named after the Carlock family, who were among the first settlers. The Carlock family had a large farm in the area, and the village was built around it. The village was incorporated in 1872, and the first mayor was William Carlock.
The village grew slowly over the years, and by the early 1900s, it had a population of around 500 people. The village was primarily an agricultural community, and the main crops grown were corn, wheat, and oats. The village also had a few small businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith, and a post office.
In the 1950s, the village began to experience a population decline as people moved away to larger cities. By the 1970s, the population had dropped to just over 300 people. In recent years, the population has stabilized and is slowly increasing.

Geography

Carlock is located in the heart of the Midwest, just a few miles south of Bloomington-Normal. The village is situated in a rural area, and is surrounded by farmland. The village is located on the banks of the Mackinaw River, and is bordered by the towns of Normal, Towanda, and Heyworth.
The village has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land. The village is located at an elevation of 690 feet above sea level. The climate in Carlock is humid continental, with hot summers and cold winters.
