Allendale Summary

Allendale is a small village located in the northern part of Illinois, in the United States. It is situated in the county of Stephenson, and is part of the Freeport-Stephenson County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is located about 25 miles northwest of Rockford.

History

Allendale was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after the nearby Allendale Township, which was named after the Allendale family, who were among the first settlers in the area. The village was incorporated in 1872, and the first post office was established in 1873.
The village was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were wheat, corn, and oats. In the late 19th century, the village began to grow and develop, and several businesses were established, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a hotel.

Geography

Allendale is located in the northern part of Illinois, in the county of Stephenson. It is situated about 25 miles northwest of Rockford, and is part of the Freeport-Stephenson County Metropolitan Statistical Area.
