Toledo Summary

Toledo is a small village located in the state of Illinois, in the United States. It is situated in the county of Cumberland, and is part of the Charleston-Mattoon Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is located in the eastern part of the state, near the border with Indiana.

History

Toledo was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The village was named after the city of Toledo, Ohio, which was the hometown of many of the settlers. The village was incorporated in 1858, and the first post office was established in 1859.
The village grew slowly over the years, and by the early 1900s, it had a population of around 500 people. The village was home to a variety of businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a hotel, and a sawmill.
