Seatonville Summary

Seatonville is a small village located in Bureau County, Illinois, United States. The population was estimated to be around 200 people in the year 2000. Seatonville is located in the north-central part of the state, about 25 miles south of the city of Rockford. The village is situated on the banks of the Vermilion River, which flows through the area.

History

Seatonville was founded in 1854 by William Seaton, a settler from Ohio. Seaton had purchased the land from the government and began to develop the area. He built a sawmill and a gristmill, and the village began to grow. By the late 1800s, Seatonville had become a thriving community with a population of over 500 people.
The village was incorporated in 1872 and was named after its founder. Seatonville was a prosperous farming community and was home to several businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a hotel, and a post office.
