Piper City is a small village located in Ford County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,039 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Paxton–Buckley–Loda Community Unit School District 10.
History
Piper City was founded in 1871 by William Piper, a local farmer. The village was named after him. The first post office was established in 1872. The village was incorporated in 1887.
Geography
Piper City is located at 40°59'25" North, 88°17'17" West (40.990278, -88.288139). According to the 2010 census, the village has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 km2), all land.

Piper City is a small rural community with a population of 1,039. The village is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a restaurant, and a bank. The village also has a post office and a library.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,039 people, 393 households, and 287 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,279.3 people per square mile (493.2/km2). There were 416 housing units at an average density of 514.2 per square mile (198.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.86% White, 0.19% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.10% from other races, and 0.48% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.48% of the population.
There were 393 households, out of which 35.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.2% were married couples living together, 8.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.14.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.2 males.
