Ogden Summary

Ogden, Illinois is a small village located in the northern part of the state, in the county of Champaign. It is situated on the banks of the Sangamon River, and is part of the Champaign-Urbana metropolitan area. The village has a population of approximately 1,400 people, and is home to a variety of businesses, including a grocery store, a bank, a post office, and a few restaurants.

History

Ogden was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The village was named after William Ogden, the first mayor of Chicago. The settlers were attracted to the area due to its fertile soil and abundant natural resources. The village quickly grew, and by the late 19th century, it had become a thriving agricultural community.
In the early 20th century, Ogden began to experience a period of industrialization. The village was home to several factories, including a brickyard, a flour mill, and a canning factory. These industries provided employment for many of the village’s residents.
