North Utica Summary

North Utica is a small village located in LaSalle County, Illinois, United States. The village is situated on the banks of the Illinois River, approximately 25 miles southwest of the city of Chicago. The population of North Utica was 1,845 at the 2010 census.

History

North Utica was founded in 1835 by a group of settlers from Utica, New York. The village was originally known as Utica, but the name was changed to North Utica in 1837 to avoid confusion with the city of Utica, Illinois. The village was incorporated in 1867.

Geography

North Utica is located at 41°25'25"N 88°45'45"W (41.423, -88.7625). According to the 2010 census, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all land.

Economy

North Utica is a small, rural community with a primarily agricultural economy. The village is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants. The village also has a small industrial park, which is home to several manufacturing companies.
