Geography

Mazon is located at 41°14'25"N 88°25'45"W (41.240278, -88.429167). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all land.

History

Mazon was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after the Mazon Creek, which runs through the area. The creek was named after the Mazon family, who were among the first settlers in the area.
The village was incorporated in 1872 and has remained relatively unchanged since then. The village has a small-town feel, with a few businesses and a post office.
